If you have a Mac IIsi, you’ve probably noticed that the sound mysteriously stops working from time to time. You may also have noticed that if you go to the sound control panel and reset the volume, it works again. I got sick of this procedure, so I wrote this simple FKEY. It sets the volume to 7, beeps once, sets it back to what you had it at in the first place, and beeps again. I don’t really know why it works, but it does. Go figure!
You can install this FKEY with ResEdit or any of a number of FKEY installers. Its number is preset at 9, but you can change it to whatever you want (with the same piece of software with which you install it).
If you have any problems with it, please contact me on AOL, where my screen name is “Slimm.” If you don’t have any problems with it and you find that it works as advertised, please let me know. Since the sound problem is so sporadic, I haven’t been able to do much testing with it.
